The Rating Scales
Rating scales are a fun, yet powerful way to build conceptual understanding and vocabulary as students rate story characters using the traits and their opposites. There is one rating scale for each trait –– these are especially effective when introducing a trait through a story. A full rating scales, with all eight traits, is also included. A fun Scaredy Squirrel example is offered to show students how to use story evidence to support their rating. This is a great language arts, literature based, activity!
